Company History
In 1997, our founders Shaun Parker and Stephen Dart formed a company to develop websites for a range of local businesses. Shaun soon became curious about how some websites could be found in the ‘new’ search engines, such as Alta Vista, Lycos and Web Crawler (pre-Google and Yahoo!) and he set about researching how the search engine’s algorithms worked. This created a secondary service (SEO) and the process has continued to evolve over the years through continual research and development. SEO grew to become the prime service offering, with the company growing steadily through local small and medium businesses as clients, many of whom remain to this day.
In 2006, Shaun and Stephen created a strategy to grow the business through the addition of further digital services and the acquisition of a range of large ‘national’ blue chip clients. To drive this, two additional directors were appointed to the board; Terry Heffernan, former IT Director at GlaxoSmithKline and Giulio Brunini, former Trade Marketing Manager at Yahoo! This strategy was successful and led to the business more than doubling its revenue and profits for the next three years, driven by the acquisition of household names such as LloydsTSB, Budget Car & Van Rental, Virgin Wines, Sony Corporation and even Her Majesty The Queen!
In 2008, the company moved to larger premises and launched our PPC service; today, the revenues from this match those of SEO. This service now boasts an impressive client list including the Motorola Corporation, Safestore, Denby Pottery and Stelios’s easyGroup.
In 2010, HP Group created an ‘Operational Executive’ team and embarked upon a reorganisation of our services and team structure. This restructure has seen the business switching from a ‘service centric’ organisation with 6 separate service teams, to a ‘client centric’ one with teams of mixed disciplines. This provides a benefit for our clients, who have a single point of contact through an Account Manager, whose team have expertise to deliver any or all of the services we provide, be it Web Design/Development, SEO, Linking, PPC, SMO or CRO.
Many clients engage with us on all 6 services which is a totally integrated and successful approach to digital marketing that delivers the very best returns for their online investments. Our ROI model has been developed in partnership with clients, for whom, a recent survey showed that we deliver and average return of 29 times their investment in our services!
